About Michelle Ezzy
I graduated WAAPA in 2012 with a double degree in music and education majoring in classical trumpet. After several years teaching classroom music, science, english and art I became the Music Theatre Coordinator at John Curtin College of the Arts. Becoming more involved in the onstage aspect of community theatre in 2017 led me to an interest in safe intimacy practices. In 2021 I discovered Chelsea Pace’s book ‘Staging Sex” which I used to start building my skills. Emilie La Marquise Du Châtelet Defends Her Life Tonight at Subiaco Arts Centre was my first opportunity to apply my new skills. My extensive dance training has helped me immensley developing these skills. I also started creating a video series to help others engage with safe intimacy practices. In 2023 I completed Intimacy Directors and Coordinators Consent Forward Artist program over zoom. During 2023 I worked on 7 productions as an intimacy Director and 2 as a consultant. I delivered two workshops on Intimacy in Community Theatre for the Independent Theatre Association and delivered a 90min workshop on Consent and Boundaries in Acting for the DramaWest conference. In 2024 I completed phase one training with Principal Intimacy Professionals and have worked on eleven productions so far this year.
